Independent School of the Year for Environmental Achievement – Entry Form

Our judges would like you to tell them the story of how your school has made a decisive and positive contribution to the environment during 2023-24; share your pride in where you work and explain why your students are prepared for a ‘green future’. Give us some examples of what you are describing and share any data which supports your entry (but please avoid lists!). Most of all, give us a sense of the place of environmental awareness/action in your school as it would appear to our judges if they were lucky enough to walk through your doors.

These are the key questions to answer in your entry: please make sure your entry focuses on your environmental programme rather than on the wider life of the school.

  • Why do you think the environmental programme in your school is special? Tell us about its remit and purpose. What is it about your school’s programme which makes it stand out from other schools? What are your school’s successes and achievements in the area of environmental activity which make it worthy of this award? (Circa 200 words)
  • How do you think your environmental programme in 2023-24 has met the particular needs of your students and provided them with a positive student experience? Tell us about any particular environmental projects and initiatives which the school undertook this year of which you are particularly proud.   (Circa 150 words)
  • What is the impact of your environmental programme? How do you think the programme has prepared your students for a green future embedded in evolving societal awareness of key environmental issues?  (Circa 150 words.)
