Independent School Parent magazine is delighted to announce the commended schools which have been shortlisted in its awards programme, Independent Schools of the Year 2022. Now in their fifth year, the awards continue to thrive with hundreds of schools from across the country submitting entries in all 22 awards categories.

The purpose of the awards is to highlight the excellence of the student experience which the UK’s amazing independent schools provide. On the evidence of the 2022 submissions, the independent school sector in Britain has surged back from the impact of COVID, with rising demand for places across the country.

This year the judges have been particularly interested to read about the work being undertaken in the important area of EDI and have been struck by the increased emphasis many schools are placing on promoting social mobility; the effort being put into expanding bursary programmes is extraordinary as are the partnerships being undertaken with many state schools and other community bodies.

It has been truly wonderful to receive nominations which showcase transformative and innovative projects that are underway from Cardiff to Norwich.

The list of Finalists will be published on 7 September and the winners, chosen by our independent panel of expert judges, will be announced at an awards ceremony in October.
