Independent Boarding School of the Year – Entry Form
This award is for the boarding school which most clearly demonstrates that it provides boarding students with a vibrant and life-enhancing experience which mirrors the needs of 21st century students and their families. The judges will also particularly wish to understand the positive contribution made by the boarding facility to the life of the school as a whole and understand how it supports the development of well-rounded students .Topics such as pastoral support, innovative boarding provision and a compelling boarding ethos could be amongst the ingredients for winning the Independent Boarding School of the Year Award.
The judges will be especially interested to understand how the school monitors and supports the health and well-being of its boarders.
For the purpose of this award a boarding school is a school which provides full and/or flexi boarding facilities to either all or some of its students and belongs to an association in membership of ISC. The entry should:
- Successfully communicate the core characteristics, energy, culture and values of its boarding provision as well as the structures and initiatives which have allowed them expression.
- Explain how the boarding students’ experience has been enriched
- Demonstrate the sustainability and long-term impact of the activities described
- Explain how the school is evolving to meet the changing needs of its boarding students and offer a vibrant boarding environment.
These criteria have been developed in consultation with the BSA.
