Independent School of the Year for Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) – Entry Form

Our judges would like you to tell them the story of your school’s commitment to DEIJ in 2023-24; share your pride in where you work and explain why your school has a sustainable approach to creating and operating a robust DEIJ policy. Give us some examples of what you are describing and share any data which supports your entry (but please avoid lists!). Most of all, give us a sense of the importance of DEIJ  within your school community as it would appear to our judges if they were lucky enough to walk through your doors.

These are the key questions to answer in your entry: please make sure your entry focuses on your DEIJ strategy rather than on the wider life of the school.

  • Why do you think your school’s DEIJ strategy is special? What is it about your school’s programme that demonstrates a responsive and ongoing commitment to core DEIJ principles and good practice which makes it worthy of this award? (Circa 200 words)
  • Tell us how your DEIJ programme in 2023-24 has a clearly defined purpose and remit; how does it provide for the needs of the whole school community? Tell us about any particular initiatives which the school undertook this year of which you are especially proud.   (Circa 150 words)
  • What is the positive impact of your DEIJ strategy within your school? How have your students led and learnt from meaningful DEIJ initiatives? How do you think your programme helps your students shape an inclusive society?  (Circa 150 words.)
